Comet Jacques Returns

Posted July 14, 2014 by User 1

After spending a month on the far side of the Sun, comet C/2014 E2 (Jacques) is back, now in the morning sky. It's presently hovering at around magnitude 6 to 7 and will remain so for the rest of the month as it climbs higher.

This difference image by NASA's STEREO A spacecraft on July 11 shows a better view from the far side of the Sun (click for more images from STEREO):

The tail structure will be interesting to watch as the comet enters darker skies later this month.
