Licensing Change
Posted 2010-03-07 18:19:47 by Caglow
The Caglow project has now officially switched over to the new, Aciqra License 10.3 which is a revised version of the original AL 9.11. It includes the additional requirement that anything which makes use of the covered work is to be, itself, covered under the license. This additional condition goes beyond the GPL in protecting the freedom of users. The new license is here: http://www.caglow.com/licenseSo why did we change over from UF 1.0 to this license? It's mainly about the definition of free and the impractibility of the UF. UF 1.0 requires that whenever a user makes a change to a covered work, that work must be released should anyone know about it and request it. That restriction makes it uncompliant with the definition of free software and is quite unclear about when it should be enforced.Comments
